Galatians 3:16 — Abraham's Seed Is One
Paul counts one word, and the count settles who the promise belongs to.
He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Messiah.
Galatians 3:16
Many have been taught that the seed of Abraham is the nation of Israel, and that Yahuah’s promises to Abraham still run down that bloodline today. Paul settles it by counting one word.
The promise was spoken to Abraham’s seed. “Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made” (Galatians 3:16).
That word is singular, and it has a name. “He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Messiah” (Galatians 3:16).
The many come in only through the One. “And if ye be Messiah’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise” (Galatians 3:29).
Being born into the bloodline was never the way in. “Think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father” (Matthew 3:9).
So the promise does not belong to a nation or a bloodline. It belongs to Messiah, and to everyone who is His. Revelation ends it the same way: “He that overcometh shall inherit all things” (Revelation 21:7).
