― Strange Fire Before Yahuah ―

Foreign Fire

Religious systems that crept into the faith without Yahuah's authorization

"And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before Yahuah, which he commanded them not. And there went out fire from Yahuah, and devoured them, and they died before Yahuah."

— Leviticus 10:1–2

Aaron's two oldest sons were priests of Yahuah. They served in the tabernacle. They had been ordained to the work. And on the day they took their censers and offered fire before Yahuah that He had not commanded — fire from a foreign source, "strange fire," "foreign fire" — Yahuah's own fire came out and consumed them on the spot. They died before Him. Their offering was not pagan. It was not idol worship. It was simply worship He had not authorized, brought into His house from outside.

That is the principle this section is built on. Yahuah is precise about how He is to be worshipped. When men add what He did not command — when they borrow practices from surrounding nations, mix His worship with foreign religion, dress pagan symbols in biblical clothes, or build doctrines on philosophies He never gave — the result is what Scripture calls foreign fire. It does not matter how sincere the worshipper is. It does not matter how long the practice has been around. Foreign fire still kills.

Modern Christianity is full of foreign fire. Most of it has been there so long, and is so familiar, that the average believer has no idea it is foreign at all. The studies below trace the most influential of these fires — religious systems, doctrines, festivals, and symbols that look biblical but are not, that look ancient but were imported, that look holy but trace back to gods Yahuah condemned by name. Each entry exposes one such fire. More will be added over time.

Hellenism & Greek Philosophy

The Greek mind that rewrote the Hebrew gospel

Plato, Aristotle, the Logos, the immortal soul, Greek philosophical categories. The Greek mind that conquered the world after Alexander quietly conquered the church too — and most of what people call 'Christian theology' is Greek philosophy in biblical clothes.
