Jude 4 — Favor Turned Into Lasciviousness
Jude warned of men who turn Yahuah's favor into a license to live without His Law.
Ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness.
Jude 4
Jude wrote that “certain men crept in unawares… ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness” (Jude 4). Lasciviousness is living without restraint. These men took Yahuah’s favor and made it a reason to drop all limits.
Paul asked the same question these men answered wrongly: “Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?” (Romans 6:1-2). Favor never gives permission to keep sinning.
John defined sin in one line: “sin is the transgression of the law” (1 John 3:4). Sin is breaking Yahuah’s Law.
Put the two together. Favor does not give permission to sin, and sin is breaking the Law, so favor does not give permission to break the Law. A pulpit that says “we are under grace, so the Law no longer applies” is preaching the very message Jude said had crept in unawares.
