Acts 2:32-33 — Having Received of the Father the Promise

At Shavuot, Peter said God raised Yahushua, God exalted him, and the Father gave him the Spirit to pour out.

Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.

Acts 2:33

“This Yahushua hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses. Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear” (Acts 2:32-33).

Count who does what. God raised him up. God exalted him. The Father gave him the promise of the Spirit. Then he poured it out.

The Spirit is something received and poured out, like water. Yahuah had promised it through Joel: “I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh” (Joel 2:28). My spirit, His own. Peter quoted that verse the same day. The Spirit was the Father’s to give, not a third person being handed from one to another.
