John 5:46 — Moses Wrote of Me

Yahushua named Moses as the accuser and tied His own words to Moses' writings: set one aside and the other goes with it.

For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me.

John 5:46

Yahushua told the men who opposed Him that He would not be the one to accuse them before the Father. “There is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust” (John 5:45). The accuser is not the Son. It is Moses, the written Law.

He then gave the reason: “had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me” (John 5:46). And He closed the matter with a question: “if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?” (John 5:47). Moses’ writings come first, and belief in Yahushua’s words stands on them. Hebrews 10:28–29 joins the two in the same way, setting the man who “despised Moses’ law” beside the man who has “trodden under foot the Son of Yahuah.”

The Law and the Son are not two choices. A man cannot set aside what Moses wrote and keep the One Moses wrote of.
