John 7:17 — My Doctrine Is Not Mine

“My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me. If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself” (John 7:16-17).

Yahushua drew a line between himself and God. Either the teaching was “of God,” or he was speaking “of myself.” He said it was of God, the One who sent him.

Then he gave the test: do His will. The one who does the will of God will know the teaching came from God. The doctrine of the Son is the doctrine of the Father, and the way to know it is to obey it.
