Pe'ah — The Corner of the Field
Luke 1:33; 1 Corinthians 15:24 — No End to His Kingdom
Gabriel said the kingdom has no end. Paul said the end comes. Both are true.
Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father.
1 Corinthians 15:24
Gabriel told Mary, “He shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end” (Luke 1:33). Paul wrote, “Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father” (1 Corinthians 15:24). Many readers see a contradiction. There is none.
The kingdom was given. “Yahuah shall give unto him the throne of his father David” (Luke 1:32). The Son did not take the throne; He received it.
The end is the end of the fight. “For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death” (1 Corinthians 15:25-26). When death is gone, the work of conquest is finished.
The kingdom is then handed back, not torn down. The Son delivers it up whole to the One who gave it, and “then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all” (1 Corinthians 15:28).
The kingdom never ends. The conquest ends, and the kingdom is laid at the Father’s feet. A co-equal partner in a Godhead does not receive a kingdom, return it, and then stand subject to another. The Son does all three, because He is the Son of the one God.
