Hebrews 9:11 — Not Made With Hands

The greater tabernacle is not waiting on stones in Jerusalem.

But Messiah being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;

Hebrews 9:11

“Not made with hands” is acheiropoietos (G886). Stephen used the same idea before the council: “the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands” (Acts 7:48), and Paul said it again at Athens (Acts 17:24). Yahushua spoke of the temple of his body (John 2:21), and Paul spoke of “an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens” (2 Corinthians 5:1).

“Not of this building,” that is, not of this creation. The greater tabernacle is not a better stone house waiting to be raised again on the Temple Mount. Many prophecy teachers say a third temple must be built in Jerusalem before the end. Hebrews says the High Priest already serves in a greater and more perfect tabernacle, and never points the reader back to stones.
