Philippians 3:9 — Not Mine Own Righteousness
Paul names two kinds of righteousness, and only one of them opens the door.
And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Messiah, the righteousness which is of Yahuah by faith.
Philippians 3:9
Paul names two kinds of righteousness, and they come from two different sources. One is his own, built by his own keeping. The other is Yahuah’s, received through trust in the Messiah.
If any man could build his own righteousness, Paul could. He was a Hebrew of the Hebrews, a Pharisee, and touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless (Philippians 3:5-6). Yet he counted that record as loss (Philippians 3:7). His keeping was real, and it still could not open the door.
The point is the source, not the law. Paul does not call the law evil; he says his own righteousness cannot deliver him. Entry belongs to Yahuah’s righteousness alone. The walk in His commandments comes after the door is opened, never as the key that opens it.
