Jeremiah 31:33 — The Ark and the Heart

Where the law was kept in the tabernacle, and where it is kept now.

After those days, saith Yahuah, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their Elohim, and they shall be my people.

Jeremiah 31:33

In the tabernacle the law was kept in one place, inside the ark, in the innermost room. “There was nothing in the ark save the two tables of stone” (1 Kings 8:9). The mercy seat covered the ark, and from above it Yahuah met with Moses and spoke (Exodus 25:21–22). The law sat at the center, and the voice came from above it.

The temple did not end. It moved. “Know ye not that ye are the temple of Elohim?” (1 Corinthians 3:16). Hebrews names the veil as flesh (Hebrews 10:20), and in a man, what lies behind the flesh is the heart. Yahushua was the first to carry it: “thy law is within my heart” (Psalm 40:8).

So Yahuah says where the tables go now: “I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts” (Jeremiah 31:33). The heart is the ark of the living temple. It is “my law,” not a new one. The tables changed from stone to flesh (2 Corinthians 3:3), and what was written on them did not change. The order did not change either: the mercy seat covered the law, so the blood comes first, and then the law abides beneath it. A teaching that says the new covenant removed the law empties the very ark the new covenant was promised to fill.
