Hebrews 3:6 — The House Is the People
The house of God has an address, and it is not a building.
But Messiah as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.
Hebrews 3:6
Hebrews 3 compares Moses and the Son. Moses was faithful “in all his house” as a servant (3:5, quoting Numbers 12:7), and that house was Yahuah’s. The Son is set over the same house as a son. Verse 4 names the builder: “he that built all things is God.” The house belongs to Yahuah, the Son is set over it, and Moses served in it.
Then the writer says plainly what the house is: “whose house are we.” Not a building, not a denomination, not a sanctuary with a steeple. The house of God is a people. And it carries a condition: “if we hold fast … firm unto the end.” A living house stays a house by holding fast. Stones laid once and forgotten do not make one.
