Psalm 19:7 — The Law Is Perfect
A perfect Law has nothing in it to remove, so what was nailed to the cross?
The law of Yahuah is perfect, converting the soul.
Psalm 19:7
David wrote, “The law of Yahuah is perfect, converting the soul” (Psalm 19:7). Perfect means complete, with nothing lacking and nothing to fix. A perfect thing does not need replacing.
Yahushua said the same about the Law: “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil” (Matthew 5:17). After the cross, James still called it “the perfect law of liberty,” and blessed the one who does it (James 1:25). The Law was perfect before the cross and still perfect after it.
So what was nailed to the cross? Paul names it: “the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us,” and Messiah took it “out of the way, nailing it to his cross” (Colossians 2:14). The Law converts the soul; it is not against anyone. What stood against us was the written record of our debt, the charges of our sin. That record was nailed to the cross. The perfect Law was not.
