Jude 24-25 — The Only Wise God Our Savior
Jude grew up in the same house as Yahushua, and he names only one God.
To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.
Jude 25
Jude was the brother of James, and James was the brother of Yahushua. Jude grew up in the same house as the Messiah. No writer in Scripture knew Him longer.
Jude opens his letter by setting two apart: believers are “sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ” (Jude 1). The Father is God. The Son is the one in whom believers are kept.
Jude closes with one only God: “Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling… To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty” (Jude 24-25). The oldest Greek copies read “to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord.” The only God is the Savior, and the Son is the way to Him.
This matches what Yahuah said of Himself: “I, even I, am Yahuah; and beside me there is no saviour” (Isaiah 43:11). The man who shared a home with Yahushua never called Him God. He called Him Lord, and he gave the title “only God” to the Father alone.
