Hebrews 8:10 — The Same Law Written in a New Place
The new covenant brings no new law.
For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith Yahuah; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
Hebrews 8:10
This is the new covenant, quoted from Jeremiah 31:31-34. In Jeremiah the word for “my laws” is torah (H8451). The new covenant does not bring a new law. It moves the same Torah from tablets of stone to tables of the heart. Ezekiel 36:27 says the same thing: “I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes.”
The church teaches that the new covenant replaced law with favor. Hebrews 8:8 says Yahuah was “finding fault with them,” with the people, not with the Law, which is holy, just, and good (Romans 7:12). What grew old and was ready to vanish (8:13) was the agreement Israel broke (Jeremiah 31:32), not the commandments themselves. Note also who the covenant is made with: the house of Israel. Gentiles come in by being grafted into that tree (Romans 11:17; Ephesians 2:12-13), not by starting a new one without its Law.
