Hebrews 1:6 — Worship Given at God's Command
The English word "worship" carries the whole argument.
And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.
Hebrews 1:6
The common argument runs: only God may be worshiped, the angels worship the Son, therefore the Son is God. The argument rests on the English word “worship.” The Greek is proskuneo (G4352), to bow down, to pay homage. In Matthew 18:26 a servant falls down and does proskuneo before his king. In Revelation 3:9 Yahushua promises that the synagogue of Satan will come and “worship before thy feet” to the believers in Philadelphia. In 1 Chronicles 29:20 the assembly “worshipped Yahuah, and the king.”
Look also at who gives the order. “He saith.” Yahuah commands the honor, and He commands it for “the firstbegotten,” one who was brought forth and brought in. The honor runs the way Philippians 2:9-11 says it does: every knee bows to the Son “to the glory of God the Father.” Bowing to the one Yahuah has crowned is obedience to Yahuah, not proof of a second God.
