The Davidic king is appointed: "Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion... I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance" (Ps 2:6-8); "higher than the kings of the earth" (Ps 89:27). Isaiah adds that the portion is His because "he hath poured out his soul unto death" (Isa 53:12). The book reads the title as earned by the Lamb, not in spite of being the Lamb but because of it. The claim that the title proves deity, since Deut 10:17 gives "Lord of lords" to Yahuah, fails in Daniel, where a man is called "king of kings" because "the Elohim of heaven hath given thee a kingdom" (Dan 2:37).
