The image is set in the altar law: "Ye shall offer no strange incense thereon" (Exod 30:9). Nadab and Abihu broke it when they "offered strange fire before Yahuah, which he commanded them not," and fire went out from Yahuah and devoured them (Lev 10:1-2). Numbers repeats the record twice (Num 3:4; 26:61). Revelation 13:13 shows the counterfeit system making "fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men": fire Yahuah never commanded, offered as proof. The common teaching that sincere worship is acceptable in any form, Sunday and borrowed festivals included, is answered by the text itself. The fire of Aaron's sons was sincere; it was simply not commanded.
