It Shall Be Our Righteousness

Abraham believed Yahuah, and it was counted to him for righteousness. "Counted" is a bookkeeping word, and it is true — the ledger really was settled. But the same man who was counted righteous in Genesis 15 was told two chapters later to walk before Yahuah and be perfect, and he still had to get up early and go do the hardest thing he was ever asked to do. The counting settled a debt. It did not do the walking. Moses said it plainly: it shall be our righteousness if we observe to do all these commandments. Ezekiel said it from the other side: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him. Upon him. Not on somebody else's account, and not on a record kept in another man's name. Yahuah credits belief at the door. He still expects feet on the road.
