Moses "went into the midst of the cloud, and gat him up into the mount" (Exod 24:18), and Yahuah "maketh the clouds his chariot" (Ps 104:3). Elijah was taken by a whirlwind, not a cloud, yet he too "went up by a whirlwind into heaven" before a witness (2 Kgs 2:11). Daniel sets the pattern: one like the son of man comes "with the clouds of heaven" before the Ancient of days (Dan 7:13). The book reads "Come up hither" (Rev 11:12) as public vindication of the witnesses, watched by their enemies, showing that the court always has the last word. The secret-rapture reading of this verse or of Rev 4:1 fails on the text, since "their enemies beheld them."
