Blood first cries from the ground in Abel's case (Gen 4:10), and the oldest boundary follows: flesh "with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat" (Gen 9:4). Priestly law fixes it, "the life of the flesh is in the blood" (Lev 17:11), and shed blood defiles the land until it is answered (Num 35:33). The Prophets promise that answer against Jezebel's house and against Babylon (2 Kgs 9:7; Jer 51:49). The book reads the harlot as sustained by the blood of the saints and delighting in it, priestly language turned upside down. The blood of the prophets found in her is testimony filed and never addressed, left on the record until the Judge acts.
