The Torah first warns of a nation "as swift as the eagle flieth" sent on covenant breakers (Deut 28:49). Hosea joins trumpet and eagle: "Set the trumpet to thy mouth. He shall come as an eagle against the house of Yahuah, because they have transgressed my covenant" (Hos 8:1), and Habakkuk's Chaldeans "fly as the eagle that hasteth to eat" (Hab 1:8). The KJV, following the Received Text, reads "an angel flying through the midst of heaven" at Rev 8:13; other manuscripts read "eagle," and Hosea's pairing fits either. The book reads it as Yahuah's own commentary at the turning point: when light is withdrawn, deeper darkness follows. The woes answer broken covenant, which a Law-abolished gospel cannot.
