The Psalms make opened eyes Yahuah's gift: "Yahuah openeth the eyes of the blind" (Ps 146:8). Isaiah shows the other side, a people whose eyes are shut by their own heart (Isa 6:10), and promises the reversal: "the eyes of the blind shall be opened" (Isa 35:5), "to open the blind eyes" (Isa 42:7). Revelation's eye salve carries that promise to Laodicea: genuine spiritual sight, correcting the blindness self-reliance produces. The sight given is sight of the Law: "Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law" (Ps 119:18). The teaching that the Law is abolished is the very blindness the salve is sent to cure.
