Moses was told to make an altar overlaid with pure gold and set it "before the vail that is by the ark of the testimony, before the mercy seat" (Exod 30:1-6), where Aaron burned incense morning and evening (Exod 30:7-8). In Revelation 8:3 an angel, not Yahushua, stands at "the golden altar which was before the throne" and offers incense "with the prayers of all saints": the prayers of believer-priests rise from the Holy Place, opened by the torn outer veil, to the throne where the High Priest after the order of Melchizedek mediates (Ps 110:4; Heb 5:6). The 1844 doctrine of a later move between compartments fails: He entered the Most Holy once (Heb 9:12, 24).
