The ot first appears with the bow, "the token of the covenant" (Gen 9:12-13), then with circumcision (Gen 17:11) and the blood on the doorposts (Exod 12:13). The Sabbath is named the same: "it is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever" (Exod 31:17), and the commandments are bound "for a sign upon thine hand" (Deut 6:8). Revelation opens with semaino, to mark or convey by signs (Rev 1:1), so it is a book of signs, not riddles. Yahuah's sign on His servants (Rev 7:3) stands against the beast's counterfeit charagma (Rev 13:16-17). The Sunday tradition, which discards the one weekly ot Yahuah named, answers to a counterfeit sign, not His.
