The Song of Songs gives the knock itself: "It is the voice of my beloved that knocketh, saying, Open to me" (Song 5:2), and wisdom blesses the man "watching daily at my gates" (Prov 8:34). Behind it stands the Pesach door, where blood on the lintel marked the house Yahuah would pass over and keep (Exod 12:22-23), and the covenant meal on the mount, where the elders "did eat and drink" before Elohim (Exod 24:11). In Revelation 3:20 Yahushua stands outside His own assembly at Laodicea, waiting for a shared meal; presence enters when obedience opens the way. The altar-call use of the verse misreads it: the words are addressed to an assembly that had shut Him out.
