The list opens with the materials of the tabernacle and priesthood, gold, blue, purple, scarlet and fine linen (Exod 28:5-6), and the spices of the holy anointing oil (Exod 30:23). Ezekiel's catalogue of Tyre's trade runs through metals, beasts and the "persons of men" (Ezek 27:13), and Joel and Amos condemn the nations who sold Judah's children and delivered whole captivities (Joel 3:3, 6; Amos 1:6, 9). Revelation's cargo is a twenty-eight-item inventory with a downward trajectory: it begins with sacred things and ends with "slaves, and souls of men." A system that sells what Yahuah made holy will at last sell people.
