51Inheritance
nachalah / kleronomia — Hebrew / Greek
nachalah (H5159) — an inheritance, heritable estate. Paired with kleronomia (G2817) — an inheritance, allotted possession.
The kleron- family: the inheritance (kleronomia) is received by inheriting (kleronomeo), taken by the heir (kleronomos).
An estate term — the heritable property allotted and secured by law.
An inheritance is legal property, assigned and protected: distributed by lot, guarded by the Jubilee against permanent loss, passed by right of standing. It is not a gift of the moment but a holding on the record. The believer’s inheritance, reserved in heaven, is spoken in this register — a lawful estate secured, to which the heir holds recognized claim.
Leviticus 25:23 “The land shall not be sold for ever... the land is mine.” The inheritance protected from alienation.
Numbers 26:53 “Unto these the land shall be divided for an inheritance.” The estate allotted by law.
1 Peter 1:4 “An inheritance incorruptible... reserved in heaven for you.” The estate secured.
Ephesians 1:14 “The earnest of our inheritance.” The estate guaranteed by a pledge.
An inheritance is heritable property allotted and protected by law — title, not a whim. Israel’s land was divided as inheritance and guarded by the Jubilee. The believer’s inheritance is the same kind of thing: a lawful estate, secured and reserved.
An inheritance is not a present that might or might not come — it is an estate assigned to you by law, on the record, protected from being lost. Israel’s land worked that way, hedged by the Jubilee. The believer’s inheritance is reserved and secured the same way: yours by right.
- Yahuah (the Owner and Testator) allots and secures the inheritance.
- The heir (the holder) holds recognized claim to the estate.
- The inheritance (the estate) the heritable property protected by law.
