54Portion
cheleq — Hebrew
cheleq (H2506) — a portion, share, allotment; the legally assigned part.
A share term — the legally assigned part of an estate.
An estate is divided into shares, and the portion is one’s assigned part — fixed by law, not by favor. The tribes received their portions by allotment; the Levites’ portion was Yahuah Himself. To hold a portion is to hold a defined, secured claim on the inheritance. ‘Yahuah is my portion’ claims Him as one’s allotted share — estate language, chosen on purpose. The portion is what the law apportions, entered and held by right.
Deuteronomy 10:9 “The Levites have no part nor inheritance... Yahuah is his inheritance.” The portion assigned — here Yahuah Himself.
Psalm 73:26 “Elohim is... my portion for ever.” Claiming Him as one’s allotted share.
Numbers 18:20 “I am thy part and thine inheritance among the children of Israel.” The portion defined by Yahuah.
Psalm 16:5 “Yahuah is the portion of mine inheritance.” The assigned share held by right.
A portion is your assigned legal share of an estate — fixed by law, not handed out on a whim. The tribes got their portions by allotment; the Levites’ portion was Yahuah Himself. To say ‘Yahuah is my portion’ is to claim Him as your assigned inheritance, using estate language on purpose.
When an estate is divided, each heir gets a portion — a defined share, secured by law. That is cheleq. And the deepest use turns it personal: the Levites held no land because ‘Yahuah is their portion.’ To say that is to claim Him as your assigned inheritance — the share the law apportions to you.
- Yahuah (the One who apportions) assigns each party its portion; is Himself the Levite’s portion.
- The heir (the shareholder) holds the assigned share by right.
- The portion (the share) the legally allotted part of the estate.
