74Throne

kisse / thronos — Hebrew / Greek

The throne is the judgment seat itself — the sovereign seat from which rule and verdict issue. Not a chair of honor merely, but the seat of authority: “I saw Yahuah sitting upon his throne” (1 Kings 22:19); “a great white throne, and him that sat on it... and the dead were judged” (Revelation 20:11-12). The throne is where the King reigns and the Judge rules — the two offices meeting in one seat. To occupy the throne is to hold supreme authority; to approach it is to come before the highest court. The throne is the source-seat of law and judgment, distinct from every derived bench beneath it.
The Root

kisse (H3678) — a throne, the royal and judicial seat. Paired with thronos (G2362) — a throne, the seat of the sovereign.

The Courtroom Word

A sovereign-seat term — the judgment seat from which rule and verdict issue.

Its Role in the Court

Rule and judgment issue from a seat, and the throne is that seat — the sovereign’s own, where King and Judge meet. ‘I saw Yahuah sitting upon his throne’; ‘a great white throne... and the dead were judged.’ To sit on the throne is to hold supreme authority; to come before it is to stand before the highest court. The throne is the source-seat of law and verdict, above every delegated bench — the place from which the final ruling comes.

Proof Texts

1 Kings 22:19 “I saw Yahuah sitting on his throne.” The sovereign seat of rule.

Revelation 20:11 “A great white throne, and him that sat on it.” The judgment seat.

Psalm 89:14 “Justice and judgment are the habitation of thy throne.” The throne founded on judgment.

Psalm 9:7 “He hath prepared his throne for judgment.” The throne as the seat of the verdict.

In Plain Terms

The throne is the judgment seat itself — the sovereign seat from which rule and verdict issue. Not just a chair of honor, but the seat of authority where King and Judge meet: ‘him that sat on it... and the dead were judged.’ To occupy the throne is to hold supreme authority; to approach it is to come before the highest court.

Bring It Home

The throne is not decoration — it is the seat rule and judgment come from. ‘I saw Yahuah sitting upon his throne’; ‘a great white throne... and the dead were judged.’ King and Judge meet in that one seat. To come before the throne is to stand before the highest court there is.

Courtroom Roles
  • Yahuah (on the Throne) reigns and judges from the sovereign seat.
  • The throne (the seat) the source of rule and verdict.
  • The parties (those before it) who come before the highest court.
