The Triumphal Arch Is Coming to Washington
On April 16 the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts approved a 250-foot Triumphal Arch to be built at Memorial Circle, directly across the Potomac from the Lincoln Memorial. It is being fast-tracked for unveiling on July 4, 2026 — the 250th anniversary of American independence. The design is a near-copy of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, only taller.
Most Americans will see a patriotic monument. The believer who has read Scripture carefully should see something else: the architectural form of the Roman Triumph, a rite in which the victorious general was temporarily identified with Jupiter; revived by Napoleon in 1806 in direct imitation of Constantine's arch to Sol Invictus; now planted at the western gateway of a city already laid out as an Egyptian sun-temple.
The date is not an accident either. July 4 is the annual conjunction of our sun with Sirius — the Blazing Star of Masonry and the star the Egyptians identified with Isis, the Queen of Heaven Jeremiah condemned by name.
