A Temple, and Nobody Asked Whose
The building is well kept. The rent is being paid to someone else.
An independent host on YouTube — no network behind him, a few million watching — put out a video this week taking apart an influencer who had been arrested. He went after her politics. Then he went after her weight.
I laughed once. Then it sat wrong.
The comments split the usual way. She deserved it, or the joke was cruelty. Everyone argued whether it was fair.
Nobody asked whose body it was.
The Verse Everybody Can Quote
“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of Elohim, and ye are not your own?” — 1 Corinthians 6:19
Most believers can quote the first half. Your body is a temple. It gets said in gyms and printed on shirts.
The second half is the part that does the work. Ye are not your own.
Paul is not paying the body a compliment. He is settling a question of ownership. The body was purchased, and one day the man keeping it gives an account of how he kept it.
So which half have you been living in?
The System Runs Backwards
This generation displays the body, feeds it whatever it asks for, and sells it. Every one of those is care. Hours, money, discipline sometimes.
What is missing is the owner.
Pride will get a man out of bed at five in the morning. Yahuah will not.
The temple is still being maintained. It has simply been rededicated, and nobody noticed the ceremony.
When did you last do anything for that body because it was His?
The Same Error, Facing the Other Way
The man mocking her is standing in the same place. He built his body too — for display, for the audience, for the standing it gives him in a room.
The same video carried an ad. An anti-aging device he uses daily, in his own words, so that he will not look like he is aging. Twelve minutes after mocking a stranger for her body, he sold a product for managing his own.
One is spending the temple on appetite. The other is spending it on vanity. Both are spending something that was never theirs.
“Whoso mocketh the poor reproacheth his Maker.” — Proverbs 17:5
The insult does not stop at the person. Mock what a man was given, and the reproach lands on the One who gave it.
Yahuah told Samuel He does not weigh a man that way — man looketh on the outward appearance, but Yahuah looketh on the heart (1 Samuel 16:7). So when you rank a stranger by their body, whose standard are you holding?
Why Nobody Said It
It is easy to say a joke went too far. It costs nothing.
Ask whose body it is, and there is no clean seat left. The one being mocked has to answer for a house she treated as her own. The one mocking has to answer for the same thing, and for the mockery on top of it. The audience laughing has to answer for enjoying it.
That is the mark of an actual standard. It does not sort the room into a right side and a wrong side.
And that includes me. I laughed. I am still sitting with what I was agreeing to when I did.
What the Trust Actually Asks
Nothing in Scripture says a believer must be lean, or strong, or admired. Not one verse.
What it says is that the body is not his to spend on himself — not on appetite, not on vanity, and not on the pleasure of tearing another man’s down.
The world will keep arguing about which bodies deserve respect. That argument has no floor. The moment a body has to earn its worth, somebody gets to set the price.
Yahuah already set it. He paid it Himself, and the price was His Son.
The temple is not being neglected. It is being kept for the wrong owner.
