Even If It Comes True

A prophet can hit every prediction and still be false. Yahuah gave the test the internet forgot.

Online, the false prophets of today are exposed one way: the prediction failed, so the prophet is false. That test is in Scripture (Deuteronomy 18:22), but it is only half the story. Yahuah gave a deeper test, and it catches the prophet whose words come true.

A True Sign From a False Prophet

Deuteronomy 13:1-4 describes a prophet who gives a sign, and the sign comes to pass. Yahuah still says, do not listen to him. Why? Because he leads the people after other gods. Yahuah allows it on purpose: “Yahuah your God proveth you.” The test is not whether the prophecy landed. The test is this: “Ye shall walk after Yahuah your God… and keep his commandments.”

So a prophet can be right on every prediction and still be false. If he does not point people to the one true God, the Father (John 17:3), and does not teach His commandments, his accuracy means nothing. Paul warned that the last days would bring “signs and lying wonders” (2 Thessalonians 2:9). Signs prove nothing. The message proves everything.

They Prophesy for Money

Micah described the prophets of his day in one verse: the priests teach for hire, the prophets divine for money, and yet they say, “Is not Yahuah among us? none evil can come upon us” (Micah 3:11). Peter said the same men would return: “through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you” (2 Peter 2:3).

That is the modern prophecy ministry. Sow a seed. Give to receive. Partner with the ministry to unlock the coming wealth transfer. The prophet flies in a private jet while the people who fund him wait for the riches he promised them.

They Preach Only Good News

Jeremiah’s false prophets told the nation: no war is coming, no famine is coming, you will have lasting peace. Yahuah answered, “I sent them not” (Jeremiah 14:13-14). They told people living in sin, “No evil shall come upon you” (Jeremiah 23:17).

Today it is the same: the nation is about to be great again, the right leader will turn it all around, blessing and prosperity are on the way. It is never repentance. It is never judgment. Yahuah gave the mark of a true prophet: he turns the people “from their evil way” (Jeremiah 23:22). A man who never calls anyone back to the commandments is not sent by Yahuah.

They Tell Stories of Heaven

Trips to heaven, visits with Jesus, dreams and visions sold in books and on stage. Jeremiah heard the same thing: “I have dreamed, I have dreamed” (Jeremiah 23:25). Yahuah called it “a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of Yahuah” (Jeremiah 23:16). Yahushua Himself said, “no man hath ascended up to heaven” (John 3:13), and Paul warned against the man “intruding into those things which he hath not seen” (Colossians 2:18).

The Four Questions

Before asking whether a prophecy came true, ask these:

  • Does he point to the Father, the one true God?
  • Does he teach the commandments?
  • Does he call people to repent, or promise them peace and wealth?
  • Does he ask for money?

None of this is new. Yahuah warned about every bit of it in the Old Testament. Revelation shows who stands at the end: those “which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Yahushua Messiah” (Revelation 12:17). The false prophet is cast into the lake of fire (Revelation 19:20).
