At Sinai Yahuah "came with ten thousands of saints" (Deut 33:2); Joel hears Yahuah utter His voice before His army (Joel 2:11); Zechariah closes, "Yahuah my Elohim shall come, and all the saints with thee" (Zech 14:5). The armies following on white horses wear the bride's fine linen, "clean and white" (Rev 19:8, 14), so the book reads them as the redeemed. They carry no weapons and do not fight; Messiah alone executes judgment with the sword of His mouth. "Which were in heaven" says where the followers come from, not that they ruled there. The picture of saints returning from a heavenly reign is foreign to the text: one return, one judgment, and no earthly kingdom to follow.
