Judah's blessing foretells one who "washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of grapes" (Gen 49:11). Isaiah sees him come from Edom "with dyed garments from Bozrah": "I have trodden the winepress alone... and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments" (Isa 63:1-3). The robe of Revelation 19:13 is therefore not His own blood from the cross but Isaiah's winepress blood of enemies. He is dipped in blood before the battle even starts, because the outcome was settled before the armies gathered. The blood of the tree opened the way; this blood is the sentence on those who refused it.
