"In the hand of Yahuah there is a cup, and the wine is red; it is full of mixture" (Ps 75:8). Jeremiah carries "the wine cup of this fury" to every nation in turn (Jer 25:15), and Isaiah sees it taken from Jerusalem and handed to her tormentors (Isa 51:22-23). In Revelation it is poured "without mixture," because mercy no longer softens the outcome, and Babylon's double is exact legal correspondence (Ps 137:8; Jer 50:29). The Gethsemane cup is the suffering the Father appointed and the Son accepted, "not as I will, but as thou wilt" (Matt 26:39). It is not wrath poured on the Son; He laid down His life as the offering Yahuah provided (John 10:17-18).
