Balaam first sees the true star: "there shall come a Star out of Jacob" (Num 24:17). Isaiah's taunt over the king of Babylon mocks the counterfeit: "How art thou fallen from heaven, O heylel, son of the morning!" (Isa 14:12). Jeremiah feeds the people's false prophets with "wormwood" (Jer 23:15). At the third trumpet a false light presents itself as a lamp, corrupting the assembly's teaching as political and religious power merge; at the fifth the fallen star is given the key, a controlled release, permitted and authorized. "Lucifer" is no fallen archangel; Isaiah calls him a man (Isa 14:16) and the Latin title is a stolen counterfeit of the bright and morning star (Rev 22:16).
