The Torah sets the measure in the wilderness: "each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities" (Num 14:34), and Ezekiel bore the house of Judah forty days, "each day for a year" (Ezek 4:6). Daniel's seventy weeks run on the same scale, 490 years fulfilled in Messiah (Dan 9:24-27). Under the sixth trumpet four angels are prepared "for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year" (Rev 9:15). By a day for a year this is 391 years and 15 days, which the book places from 1449 to August 11, 1840, offered as a strong parallel rather than final proof. The year-day principle stands apart from the 1844 investigative judgment, which Hebrews 9:12 rules out.
