Amos first sees Yahuah with a plumbline, "I will set a plumbline in the midst of my people" (Amos 7:8). Jeremiah's measuring line goes forth over the restored city (Jer 31:39), Ezekiel's man holds "a measuring reed" (Ezek 40:3) whose wall makes "a separation between the sanctuary and the profane place" (Ezek 42:20), and Zechariah's measured Jerusalem has Yahuah as "a wall of fire round about" (Zech 2:5). Revelation's rod is a court instrument, not a builder's tool: what is measured is preserved, what is excluded is surrendered. The golden rod declares the New Jerusalem Yahuah-defined, Yahuah-owned, Yahuah-protected. The teaching of a rebuilt third temple misses that John measures "them that worship therein."
