The Psalms first picture "the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea" (Ps 46:2). Isaiah sets Yahuah's day "upon all the high mountains" (Isa 2:14) and calls the islands, distant nations, to keep silence before Him (Isa 41:1). Jeremiah names Babylon a "destroying mountain" (Jer 51:25), and Daniel's stone becomes "a great mountain" that fills the earth (Dan 2:35). Revelation's removed mountains are kingdoms and its islands distant nations: no refuge built on inherited power stays untouched, and every opposing authority is removed. The reading of a literal geological upheaval is answered by Daniel himself, who interprets the mountain as a kingdom (Dan 2:44).
