Yahuah remembers Israel's youth, "the love of thine espousals" (Jer 2:2), and swears covenant over her at Ezek 16:8. "Thy Maker is thine husband; Yahuah of hosts is his name" (Isa 54:5), and the city is rebuilt with sapphires and carbuncles; "as the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, so shall thy Elohim rejoice over thee" (Isa 62:5). Ezekiel closes with the city's name, Yahuah shammah (Ezek 48:35). In Revelation the city and the Bride are the same thing, not primarily a place but a people. She is accepted and then dressed, and the order matters; she descends already prepared because everything was finished at the cross.
