"Now the sons of Jacob were twelve" (Gen 35:22). Israel is mustered by tribes (Num 1), "of every tribe a thousand" (Num 31:4); Ezekiel sees a mark set on the foreheads of those who mourn before judgment begins (Ezek 9:4). In Rev 7:4 the number is symbolic, not a literal count: twelve tribes times twelve thousand, the spiritual community of Yahuah's faithful, not an ethnic census and not a land record. John hears a number and sees a multitude (Rev 7:9), as he heard "Lion" and saw a Lamb (Rev 5:5-6): one people already accounted for before judgment. The Watchtower's literal elite and the dispensational Jewish evangelists both miss this.
