An advocate is defense counsel — one called alongside to plead your case before the bench. “If any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Yahushua Messiah the righteous” (1 John 2:1). This is no vague comforter; it is an attorney standing before the court on the defendant’s behalf. The office only functions inside a live trial where charges can still be filed. To have an advocate is to admit there is a court, a prosecutor, and a case — and then to find that competent counsel has already taken the brief.

The Courtroom Word

Its Role in the Court

When the accuser files, the advocate answers. Yahushua stands before the Father as counsel for the accused, pleading a settled account against every charge. He does not deny that a case exists; He answers it with the price paid. The advocate is why the indictment does not stand.

The prosecutor finishes his charges and the accused has no words. Then counsel rises — not to argue the man is innocent, but to lay a paid receipt on the bench. Charge answered. That is the advocate: Yahushua before the Father, pleading a settled account.
