The footstool is dominion and subjugation — the defeated placed lawfully under the ruler’s feet. “Until I make thine enemies thy footstool” (Psalm 110:1) is a declaration of total jurisdiction: the conquered reduced to the ruler’s possession, under his authority in the most literal posture. The earth called Yahuah’s footstool (Isaiah 66:1) declares His dominion over it. The image is legal as much as martial — conquest converted into settled, rightful rule. To be made a footstool is to be brought fully under another’s lawful authority, the contest ended and the jurisdiction absolute.
