A seal is an authenticating mark of ownership and authority — the impression that certifies a document genuine and a possession claimed. In the ancient world a seal made a matter official: a sealed document was authenticated and secured (Jeremiah 32:10), and to seal a thing was to mark it as one’s own and beyond tampering. “Ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise” (Ephesians 1:13) uses this legal image: marked as owned, authenticated, secured until redemption. To be sealed is to bear the owner’s mark — certified as belonging to Him, the possession authenticated and protected on the record.
