150Sent One

apostolos / shaluach — Greek / Hebrew

‘Apostle’ has become a title of rank, claimed today by men who govern networks and promise to take the mountains of culture. Its meaning is plainer and binding: one sent. In the Septuagint apostolos stands at 1 Kings 14:6, where the prophet Ahijah says “I am sent to thee with heavy tidings” — Hebrew shaluach, from shalach, to send. A sent one carries authority, but it is borrowed authority, bound to the message and to the sender. “Neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him” (John 13:16). And Scripture calls Yahushua Himself “the Apostle and High Priest of our profession” (Hebrews 3:1) — the Sent One, distinct from the One who sent Him.
The Root

apostolos (G652) — one sent; a messenger under commission. Paired with shalach (H7971) — to send, to send forth with a commission.

The Courtroom Word

An agency term — delegated authority, valid only as far as the message and the sender reach.

Its Role in the Court

A sent one acts in another’s name. His word carries weight because the sender stands behind it — and only so far as he delivers what he was given. That is the limit Yahushua sets: the sent is not greater than the sender. It is also why the office of the twelve was closed — they had to be eyewitnesses of the resurrection (Acts 1:21–22), and Paul was ‘last of all’ (1 Corinthians 15:8). And it is the plainest statement of the Father and the Son: ‘the only true God, and Yahushua Messiah, whom thou hast sent’ (John 17:3). The Sender and the Sent are two.

Proof Texts

John 13:16 “The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.” Delegated authority, bounded by the sender.

Hebrews 3:1 “Consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Messiah Yahushua.” The Son named the Sent One.

John 17:3 “That they might know thee the only true Elohim, and Yahushua Messiah, whom thou hast sent.” The Sender and the Sent, named apart.

Revelation 2:2 “Thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars.” The counterfeit claim tested and exposed.

In Plain Terms

An apostle is a ‘sent one’ — someone carrying a message with authority borrowed from whoever sent him. He is never greater than the sender. Scripture calls Yahushua the Apostle, the One sent by the only true God.

Bring It Home

An ambassador speaks with the king’s authority, but only while he delivers the king’s message — and no ambassador is the king. That is a sent one. Yahushua said it Himself: the sent is not greater than the sender. And He prayed to ‘the only true God,’ naming Himself as the one ‘whom thou hast sent.’

Courtroom Roles
  • Yahuah (the Sender) who commissions and stands behind the message.
  • Yahushua (the Sent One) the Apostle who carries the Father’s word.
  • The false apostles (the claimants) tried and found liars.
In the Break

The office claimed by men who were never sent — they say they are apostles, and are not (Revelation 2:2).
