29Reconcile

katallasso — Greek

To reconcile is to bring estranged parties back into a settled legal relationship — the ledger brought to zero, the enmity removed, peace restored between them. Katallasso is a relational-legal term: “we were reconciled to Yahuah by the death of his Son” (Romans 5:10). It presupposes a real breach — parties at law, a standing hostility — that is formally ended. Reconciliation is not a warm feeling but a change of legal standing: the two parties, once opposed, brought back into accord, the account settled between them. To be reconciled is to have the dispute resolved and the relationship restored, on the record.
The Root

katallasso (G2644) — to reconcile, to change from enmity to accord; to settle a relationship.

The Courtroom Word

A settlement term — the restoring of estranged parties to accord, the account cleared.

Its Role in the Court

A breach between parties must be settled, and reconciliation is the settling — the enmity removed, the account brought to zero, the relationship restored. It assumes a real dispute at law. Reconciled to Yahuah means the standing hostility is ended and the parties brought back into accord. It is a change of legal standing, not a mood: the case between them closed, peace on the record.

Proof Texts

Romans 5:10 “We were reconciled to Yahuah by the death of his Son.” The breach settled.

2 Corinthians 5:19 “Yahuah was in Messiah, reconciling the world unto himself.” The parties brought to accord.

2 Corinthians 5:18 “Hath reconciled us to himself... and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation.” The settled relationship and its proclamation.

Colossians 1:20 “Having made peace through the blood of his cross.” Peace restored by the price.

In Plain Terms

To reconcile is to bring estranged parties back into accord — the enmity removed, the account cleared, the relationship restored. It assumes a real breach, parties at law. ‘Reconciled to Yahuah’ means the hostility is ended and the two brought back together, on the record. It is a change of standing, not a feeling.

Bring It Home

When two parties are at law, reconciliation is the settlement — the dispute resolved, the account zeroed, the enmity ended, and the relationship restored. That is what ‘reconciled to Yahuah’ means: not a softened mood, but a real breach formally closed, peace made through the price paid.

Courtroom Roles
  • Yahuah (the offended party, the Judge) who reconciles the world to Himself.
  • Yahushua (the means) by whose death the breach is settled.
  • The estranged (the parties) brought back into accord, the account cleared.
