Sonship is the legal status that carries the inheritance — the standing of a son, which by law entitles one to the estate. It is not merely a warm relationship but a legal position: “if a son, then an heir of Yahuah through Messiah” (Galatians 4:7). The son’s status is what confers the claim on the inheritance; sonship and heirship travel together. Under the law, the son held rights the servant did not — standing, name, and estate. To be granted sonship is to be granted the legal position from which the inheritance is claimed. It is status with an estate attached, conferred by the Father.
