47Walk
halak — Hebrew
halak (H1980) — to walk, to go, to conduct oneself; one’s manner and course of life.
A conduct term — the whole ongoing manner of life, lived by the covenant.
Standing, once given, is lived out — and to walk is that living: the daily, habitual conduct ordered by the covenant. Halak is the whole course of life, not an isolated act. ‘Walk in all the ways Yahuah commanded’; ‘Enoch walked with Elohim.’ To walk in the law is to practice it step by step, the covenant as daily life. The walk is how the acquitted live out their standing — the terms kept not once but as one’s whole manner of life.
Deuteronomy 5:33 “Walk in all the ways which Yahuah your Elohim hath commanded you.” The covenant as course of life.
Genesis 5:24 “Enoch walked with Elohim.” The whole life ordered toward Him.
Micah 6:8 “To walk humbly with thy Elohim.” The manner of the covenant life.
1 John 2:6 “Ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.” The pattern of conduct.
To walk is to conduct your whole manner of life by the covenant — the daily, ongoing practice of the law, not an isolated act. ‘Walk in all the ways Yahuah commanded’; ‘Enoch walked with Elohim.’ To walk in the law is to live it step by step. The walk is how you live out the standing you’ve been given.
‘Walk’ is the Bible’s word for how you live — the whole direction and pattern of your steps, day after day. ‘Enoch walked with Elohim.’ To walk in the law is not a single act but a manner of life: the covenant practiced habitually. It is how the acquitted live out the standing they were given — step by step.
- The believer (the one who walks) lives out his standing by the covenant, day by day.
- Yahuah (the One walked with) in whose ways the walk is ordered.
- The law (the way) the path the walk follows.
