The modern West reads love as a feeling; Scripture reads it as covenant loyalty enacted — allegiance shown in deeds. “Thou shalt love Yahuah thy Elohim” (Deuteronomy 6:5) is a covenant command, and no one can command a feeling; what is commanded is loyalty, the wholehearted allegiance a covenant party owes. Love in this register is measurable by conduct: “if ye love me, keep my commandments” (John 14:15). It is the treaty word for the devotion a vassal owes his sovereign — fidelity in action, not warmth in the chest. To love Yahuah is to keep covenant with Him; the feeling may follow, but the love is the loyalty.
